Our string light planters are one of our most used DIYs!
4x4x8 posts
Stain & Roller
Drill
Concrete
Potting Soil
Potted Plants
Plastic Planters
Planter Hooks
String Lights
Optional: Two pieces of 2x2s wider than your planters & a wood screw
Drainage Rock
Add them to the top of one side of each post. It's easier to add them now before putting them in concrete.
We marked where the form met the sides so that we could lay the form down and not have to remeasure the center every time.
...but we found it easier to place the post first and then mix the concrete and water in the planter around it.
TIP:
Use a level & the form to set the posts
The kiddos left their marks before the concrete fully set.
Drill a hole for water drainage on 1-2 sides of the planter, just above the concrete fill line. Otherwise, water build up could rot your roots.
