A Step-By-Step Tutorial of How to Make a Dupe of the St. John Bell-Shaped Scented Candles
BY DESIGN OF YOUR LIFE
These Pottery Barn Bell-Shaped Candles are beautiful. But at almost $90 for the set, it's quite pricey.
Luckily, the dupe is easy to make and cost me less than $35!
1. Bell-shaped container from Joann Fabrics 2. Rub 'n Buff 3. Candle wick kit 4. Jarred candle or candle wax 5. Ribbon, optional 6. Paint brush, optional
Paint the lids and bottoms. Make sure you get under the bell lid handle.
Then, turn the bottom pieces right-side-up and paint the top of the rim.
Start with the lids off and the bottom pieces turned up-side-down.
Insert the jarred candle into a pot of water. I put it on a spoon so the bottom wasn't in contact with the bottom of the pot.
Meanwhile, add the sticker to the bottom of the wick and push onto the middle of the bottom piece.
Use the popsicle to hold the wick upright in the center and hold it still when you pour in the wax.
Once the wax is melted in the jar, pick it up out of the water and pour it into the bottom piece where you've secured the wick.
Make sure you protect your hands as the jar and the wax inside will be hot.
Let the candle wax harden.
