Hosting Out-of-Town Guests

5 Tips for how to prepare for a smooth and enjoyable visit for hosts and guests alike

Hosting out-of-town guests, especially during the holidays, can be super stressful.

But the following tips should help everyone feel more relaxed & comfortable during their stay.

Prepare Fresh Linens

Make sure you have soft, luxurious, & freshly laundered linens--wash cloths, hand towels, bath towels, sheets, & blankets. I try to wash everything within 24 hours of my guests' arrival and I make sure there are extras of each visibly stored.

Plan/Order Food Ahead

Plan a mix of meals you prepare as well as food your guests can help themselves to as needed. Having a variety of ready-made food accessible and visible to guests will help them feel more comfortable serving themselves.

Stock Extra Toiletries

I keep a large, glass jar of travel-sized toiletries as well as full size bottles of the products I know my most frequent guests like in the guest bathroom. You never know when they'll forget to pack something.

Stock the Bedside Table

Make sure there is a universal phone charger,  magazines,  non-perishable snacks, & bottles of water near the bed so they can enjoy their personal time.

Tip: include the WIFI password in a visible spot in the room.

Add Cozy, Festive Vibes

Adding slippers, a robe, a cozy candle, chocolate, and a soft blanket along with some twinkle lights and holiday decor will create a cozy & festive vibe that will put your guests  in the holiday spirit.
