Spring 2023 One Room Challenge Week 4: Slow Week
Last Fall, we began to renovate our tiny mudroom and slightly bigger laundry room by combining them into one for the One Room Challenge. It turned out that moving plumbing and electrical was going to take way longer than we had anticipated, so, here we are, ready to finish this project! Let me show you where we are at week 4 of the 2023 Spring ORC.

This was an incredibly busy week in our personal, health, and work lives and so, it was a slow week for ORC progress.
This biggest change is we got the custom cabinet placed in the laundry room. If you remember from last week, we ended up making a custom cabinet for the end of the built in cabinetry to solve a little problem we uncovered/created when we took the wall down.
Seeing the cabinet in there makes me so happy and one step closer to finishing this never ending project.
I figured out the stain color and process I’m using for the butcher block countertops and sliding door. I also am about to install gorgeous reeded glass, semi-flush mount lights.
But honestly, this week kicked my butt and I’m ready to go to bed and start fresh for Monday morning.
On Tap for This Project:
- Patch the missing or damaged drywall and ceiling where the wall we took down used to be.
- Tile the backsplash.
- Figure out what type of design I want to add to the ceiling.
- Install the new light fixtures.
- Install the custom cabinet doors.
- Stain and seal the countertop.
- Finish and install the sliding door.
- Paint the walls.
- Install wallpaper
- Do 20 loads of laundry that I put on hold to get this finished.
I hope that you’ll come back for week 5 of the Spring 2023 ORC and see how far I get. I have a couple other projects to show you this week as well, so stay tuned!
