Spring 2023 One Room Challenge Week 5: An Even Slower Week
Last Fall, we began to renovate our tiny mudroom and slightly bigger laundry room by combining them into one for the One Room Challenge. It turned out that moving plumbing and electrical was going to take way longer than we had anticipated, so, here we are, ready to finish this project! Let me show you where we are at week 5 of the 2023 Spring ORC.

This was an incredibly busy week in our personal, health, and work lives and so, it was a slow week for ORC progress. Sound familiar? Yeah, that’s how I started last week’s post.
We got exactly one thing done in the laundry/mud room this week. Well, one tangible thing…the new lights are installed!
I’ve mentioned before, but this reeded glass look is either on the cusp or fully on trend right now depending on where you live (in my opinion). I feel like you’re either seeing it everywhere or seeing hints of it here or there more frequently.
I am absolutely in love with them. It feels fresh and classic all at the same time.
As you can see, the light fixture that was there when we moved in had left a discolored ring around it on the ceiling. This, plus the 4 inch hole that goes wall to wall across the ceiling has made my decision to cover the ceiling feel absolutely like the right one.
I just cannot make up my mind on the type of texture I want…bead board and shiplap feel a little too…expected. I’m playing with the idea of carrying the reeded glass texture across the ceiling but I don’t want it to overshadow the lights.
I’m sure I’m overthinking this and it will totally come down to what I can find in stock this week. So, stay tuned. I’ll be updating my IG stories with what I find. I’d love it if you gave me a follow over there!

- Patch the missing or damaged drywall and ceiling where the wall we took down used to be.
- Tile the backsplash.
- Figure out what type of design I want to add to the ceiling.
Install the new light fixtures.- Install the custom cabinet doors.
- Stain and seal the countertop.
- Finish and install the sliding door.
- Paint the walls.
- Install wallpaper

2010 loads of laundry that I put on hold to get this finished.
