Halloween is one of my absolute favorite times of the year and, last year was the first time I went BIG in my interior and exterior Halloween decor. I wanted to take a little walk down memory lane with you because I’m getting ready to get started on this year’s Halloween decorations!
First, I have to thank Shelby and the folks at The Guide Inc. for the push to get this post up! They have a fun article about 39 Trendy Halloween Decor Ideas to Copy This Year. Umm…yes please?! Who doesn’t need a little help with decor ideas? And Shelby and her team have done the hard work and collected 39 ideas for you. Plus, just a little tip, if you sign up for The Guide Inc’s emails, there’s a fabulous freebie that you do NOT want to miss out on.
Oh, and while you’re perusing those Halloween decor ideas, you’ll see someone familiar at #31. It’s ME. I’m #31. How ABSOLUTELY PERFECT is that number I happened to be on the list? All signs point to that list being a must read and I’d LOVE it if you left a comment on it for me. Thanks Tribe.
Now, turning to Halloween decor. Yes, I did just finish my Fall decor. Actually, I wouldn’t even consider myself finished. But, that’s the life of a home decor blogger. We need to be at least a month ahead to show you all the things for your event/season/holiday. And honestly, if I had to pick, I’d pick more time with my Halloween decorations than with my Fall decor. You can call me crazy, I’ll still love you anyway.
So let’s start with my interior decor. My foyer was playfully creepy, including my favorites–gnomes! I also love my skeleton marriage proposal snow globe, because, you know, who wouldn’t? My Creep It Reel candle, a fun Home Goods find, makes me smile every time I see it.

My mantel included a lot of the same type of Halloween decorations–witches, spiders, pumpkins, cute ghosts, and of course, more gnomes! I also added a whole bunch of bats I got off of Amazon!

Obviously, for Halloween decorations, I subscribe to the “more is more” mantra.
Finally, my outdoor decor was probably my favorite exterior decoration I’ve ever done. As we were putting it up, my neighbors said “I can’t wait to see what you do for Christmas if this is what you do for Halloween.” Funny story, though, I don’t tend to do as much outside for Christmas. At least I haven’t yet…stay tuned.
Now, I’m terribly afraid of spiders. But when it comes to Halloween decor, the big, fuzzy spiders I got off of Amazon were perfect!

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll remember “follow the spiders.” That was my inspiration, except they’re not all heading into the forest, waiting for Hagrid…they’re coming in my house!
I especially love our family of skeletons. The dad has a kiddo on his shoulders, the mama is gardening, and another kiddos is swinging from the trees. Sound familiar? We also have another helping with the gardening, which is totally appropriate for our family too. I do fully expect our skeleton family to grow again this year. Stay tuned!
The best part of the exterior decor, though, was what it looked like at night.

I’ve been thinking of giving those light up pumpkins a facelift, but seeing them here, I’m not convinced I should. I’ll keep you updated on my design dilemma.
So, are you ready for Halloween this year? Is there anything you’re hoping to repeat from last year or anything new you’re dreaming up? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments!
